When May Came CD RELEASE 2.10.2010 at STUBBS BBQ in Austin, TX!
hey lovebirds!
it's a lovely day in Portland, OR. I am playing a few shows in the NW before headed down through Cali, AZ & NM back to Texas to celebrate the release of my 4th full length album "When May Came". The party is at STUBBS BBQ on February 10th at 9pm. The powerhouse Carrie Elkin will be opening the show and I will be accompanied by Andrew Pressman on bass, Trevor Smith on banjo and Adam Rader on guitar. Please come down and celebrate with us! "When May Came" will finally be available! Here is some info on the record if you're curious:
When May Came to Texas in the spring of aught eight, it was mayhem.
Rising folk star Raina Rose had recently given up her apartment and her
boyfriend and once again moved all of her belongings into her car (a failing
1985 VW Vanagon). She and her dog Hopi hit the road and began writing
the songs that would comprise her 4th full length studio album.
Fifteen months and a couple hundred shows later, it was time to give these songs
a home. After a few false starts with astrologically unsuitable producers,
Raina took the reigns herself, assembled a band of her favorite Austin musicians,
promised them food and sweet talked Stephen Orsak into setting up microphones
in a friend's living room. Over the course of 4 days in the September of 2009,
Raina's first self-produced album was born. Mixed by Jonathan Byrd,
When May Came is a collection of 11 live performances, recorded face to face
by a group of friends, with minimal overdubs and equal parts laughter,
magic and -yes- mayhem.
If you aren't in Austin, please check out my extensive tour dates with such beautiful and incendiary songwriters as Aj Roach, Rebecca Loebe, and Robby Hecht!
thanks so much darlingdears!
